I just installed a new Spyke Stealth starter SPST94K  in my custom chopper today and am having the same problem as I was with the one I replaced. The original starter seemed to have a dead spot and I  needed to move the armature a smidge by hand every 10 starts or so to get it to work. The new one is doing the same thing. The starter solenoid is firing as it should and the cable wires to the starter have been tested (bypassed with another starter cable). With a DVM across the starter terminals at the starter, the voltage drops from 12.64 to 11.87 VDC when the starter solenoid fires. The same holds true at the battery, but the starter armature does not move. I have been testing the starter with the spark plugs removed to reduce the load on the starter when it does fire. I am at a loss. Could this be another bum starter or a brand with inherent problems?
