What's the best type of motorcycle? Does anyone ride multiple classes of bikes on a regular basis? I've always been a fan of sport bikes because of the riding position. I'd love to ride a chopper, but at 5'8" I would need to find a nice handlebar/seat/footpeg combo that would be comfortable and not make me look like a total dumbass.

I will not comment on that. lol I would rather ride a cruiser. My husband loves sports bikes but i don't like the feel or the sound of them.

That's a strange motorcycle trend. Most females that I've met have preferred cruisers over sport bikes. I like sport bikes because I'm a speed/handling junkie. I  love the adrenaline rush. I guess I'll end up being one of the statistics someday.

LOL@Custom, i hope for your sake that you never do become a statistic. My husband loves the speed too, me not so much. I would rather have a nice, smooth ride.

I like cruisers, but to me they all look the same. Harley Davidson, Honda Shadow, Yamaha, all those motorcycles are forgetable. The fade into the background. That's why I like the trend towards choppers and totally custom motorcycles.

I love sportbikes and that's what I've owned lately.  My next one will probably be a spotbike as well.  Eventually I will skip the cruiser and go for the custom.  I agree with Loud Pipes, you can put tons of money on a production cruiser and it still disappears within the other bikes.

You guys do have a point there. As for me, i could never forget a harley! I hear one comming down the road and i almost break my neck trying to get a look! lol As for sports bikes, no offense guys but they sound like mosquitos on steroids! lol

I guess you haven't heard a Buell motorcycle then. Buell is owned by Harley Davidson. My Buell has a 1200cc Harley V-twin, and with a new exhaust pipe it will sound like one mean hog. Everything else says sport bike.

Hey again! Wow buell, you got my attention now! Maybe it won't be so bad if my hubby gets one of those!
Posted:  02 Mar 2007 22:57
Yeah, Loud pipes! I heard a really mean sport bike once, I bet it was a Buell. I'll have to take another look at those.
Posted:  04 Mar 2007 00:39
LOL I hear that Loud_pipes. I am going to look around on the net and learn alot more about these babies!
Posted:  05 Mar 2007 20:46
Nope, not a sportbike, no matter what Harley says, IMO.

You want loud, or mean sounding, listen to a Ducati.

Your crazy paperclip Buells are nothing but sport bikes. They are the BEST handling production sport bike, and yes they even beat Aprillia or Ducati. They also have the lightest front end of any production sport bike. Have you seen the Buell Firebolt? That's as sport bike as it gets.

They still run harley engines, designed for low end torque and not for top speed.  They do handle great, I give you that, but I still rather ride a duc.
Posted:  06 Mar 2007 21:10
I've heard the Ducatis are maintenance nightmares. They're a POS unless you're a mechanic. I do like the looks of the Ducati Monsters though, if they could just get the reliability issues fixed.
Posted:  07 Mar 2007 22:37
They are not unreliable, that is a myth.  They are more expensive to maintain, yes, I give you that.  Main problem is the use of belts rather than cam chains.

Hey again guys! Yea i have seen a Ducati once and i have to admit that i did drool a little. lol Any other bikes out there that would peak my interest as much as harley?
Posted:  10 Mar 2007 06:55
I feel a little out of it here...I have to admit that I don't recall seeing a Ducati myself...guess I am kinda out  of the loop!
Posted:  11 Mar 2007 08:14
Well I suggest that you Google Ducati, they are pretty sexy motorcycles. The main reason I went to Buell was because of rumors and no dealers in Indiana.

Well I just might do that and give it a look and see for myself what people are talking about! I may decide that I like them too..who knows. Thanks for the suggestion

They are indeed sexy.  They are also expensive, as any other italian vehicle.  As per buells, I think they are great as well, they are jsut not at par with everything else out there in my book.  I watched some races this weekend, and the buell 12?? something was racing against 600cc sportbikes, and being left behind...
Posted:  19 Mar 2007 19:45
Like xb said, Buells arent made to do 180mph.  My cbr topped out around 166mph.  My Buell probably around 140mph.  And you're right in a track race my cbr 600 would beat my Lightning as long as all the turns were to the left  Try to make a hard right on a cbr...guaranteed your pipe will scrape.  My Buell turns equally well either side, and I can lay it farther down than my cbr.

Like the guy said earlier,  I want a bike that performs as well as stands out from everything else.  I cant wait for our local Bike Nights...I might have to post pics of people looking and taking pictures of my bike
Posted:  20 Mar 2007 14:54
They are just as good if not better on the street, cuz they look cool and are loud.  When it comes to leaning, you are comparing apples to oranges, since the cbr's were known for their pipes issues, and was corrected years ago.

I have to say Im all about sport bikes. I also love harleys, but Id look like a weenie on one, so I will never buy one.
Posted:  11 Apr 2007 13:54
Yeah, same as ss1129.  I have sat on some hogs and tooled them around a bit, but just not a fit for me, they kind of have a stereotype as an "old guy" bike.  I dig the choppers but most are rigid frames, in Michigan our roads are shit.  If I had a chopper I would spend more time at the chiropractor than riding
Posted:  11 Apr 2007 14:37
That's when you spend a little more and get a soft tail  chopper.  THat is my goal, at some point, with an air suspension that I can drop and raise so I don't need a kickstand.
Posted:  17 Apr 2007 17:17
Hey guys! Wow, i have missed alot! What's this i see about a soft tail chopper? Never heard of those. Wanna fill me in?
Posted:  14 May 2007 20:03
Yeah, fill me in on the soft tail chopper too!

I agree with the above poster about sport bikes. They are my favourite as well.
