There are lots of good upgrades for sport bikes. You can either do it yourself or take it to a reputable shop. Depends on what you want done.

Most sportbikes can be modified at home.  They are fairly easy to modify if you can follow simple instructions.  Harleys too for that matter.

That's true...it's better if you can modify them yourself at home...although there are a few people that don't want to be bothered and want someone else to do the modifications for them. My husband would prefer to do his himself...just like anything that needs done on his truck...if he can do it himself he most definitely will!

That's the way I do it! I feel that way I get a better feel for what goes on with my bike/car.

Hi again guys! lol Jem, your husband sounds alot like my dad! That's the way he's been for as long as i can remember, he has to do all modifications himself.

I have always done it.  it gives me something to do, as well as it allows me to learn what goes on with my vehicle.  Plus there's that sense of pride when people ask me where I had something done and they are shocked to learn it was me.

I love how easy it is to work on a bike as compared to a car. I always feel like Im working on a toy...until I actually ride it.

Like an elf in Santa's workshop.

You don't have all the computerized stuff in bikes so there is more of a old world feeling, if you know what I mean.

Tell me about it. I just removed my heater core from my camaro this weekend. Well I had to drop out the whole dash to get to it. There has to easily be enough wire back there to hit the moon and back...twice. I love turning wrenches. I hate wires.

Well duck....you need to do some work on a new fuel injected bike.  They are computers on wheels.  I just changed my exhaust on my 06' Buell, now I need to re-map my ecm to eliminate some deceleration popping.  Not like just tuning a carb anymore.  I'll either have to buy a race chip with a fuel map for my bike or...get ready.. (takes deep breath)  Buy a direct link computer program and a wide band O2 sensor..do a couple runs and download my air/fuel to my laptop..fix the problem and re flash my ecm.  Then do a couple more runs and check my settings.  Kind of a pain in the ass w/o a dyno, because you are tuning it more by feel, so I guess it is similar to a carb bike except everything is done by computer now

Yup! I did a FI bike with my buddy and took us a while, then I rejetted my carb bike and it took me just a couple of hours.

I know exactly what you mean by that Duck. When i started helping my dad with cars it was a whole different ballgame than with a bike. I don't like all the gadgets we had to use. lol But the future is comming faster and next thing u know we will have computer chips in bikes too.....or do we already? lol

We do already for the fuel mapping, etc.  We also have traction control to a certain degree, as well as after market electronic shifting systems, which allow you to shift without letting go of the throttle.

Wow, see? You learn something new everyday eh? lol Thanks for the heads up. My dad would be laughing his butt of at me if i had missed that one while working with him.

If you aren't learning something new every day, then you are doing something wrong!

I try to learn at least 2 new things every day.....just to be on the safe side.
